Our Thesis
Capital With a Bigger Purpose

Professional athletes have spent decades investing in real estate. Teammates is changing how they participate. We create opportunities for athletes to move beyond traditional fund investment and participate as strategic partners alongside experienced real estate operators while transforming communities and shaping impact.

How We Invest
Built Around Partnership

Three Ways In

Athletes
Build ownership beyond the game. Access institutional-quality real estate alongside experienced operators and fellow professional athletes.
Developers & Operators
Build with a differentiated capital partner. We back experienced developers where our capital, athlete network and relationships move projects forward.
Communities & Institutions
Build what a market actually needs. We work with municipalities, EDOs and institutions to find where private investment can support broader economic growth.
What We Do

Where Real Estate Meets Community Need

Commercial Real Estate Investments
We source and select transformative, institutional quality projects in cities where athletes have meaningful connections.
Long-Term Ownership
We structure for generational returns, not transactional returns.
Investment Diligence
We say no more than we say yes. Every deal is underwritten against a proven operator, real demand, and economics that hold up before capital moves.
Ownership Fluency
Our athlete partners build real fluency in development, ownership and the deals they're actually in.
Strategic Capital Partner
We negotiate our own ownership and economics with each project's capital stack and bring an athlete network that adds credibility, visibility and real ties in markets we participate in.

FAQ

Common Questions

Why did you start this company?

Torrey didn't take the traditional path to the NBA. He spent 3 years grinding in the NBL before making his NBA debut as a 26-year-old rookie. Once he got there, he wanted more than a paycheck and a highlight reel. His best friend since third grade, Isaiah, came in as his business manager, and about a year in the two of them saw a bigger opportunity: if Torrey needed a real partner instead of someone just managing his money, every athlete did. Teammates started as the business partner for athletes and has grown into a platform where athletes actually own something real.

Why real estate?

Real estate is transformative. It's a vehicle most athletes intuitively understand. They can see it, walk it, and understand the mechanics in theory. It's also one of the best asset classes out there for preserving and growing wealth over the long haul.

Why development instead of buying rental homes?

We actually cut our teeth in residential acquisitions. We built a multi-million dollar portfolio that we're proud of. But we felt like we were just making money. No real impact. Why not do both and allow more athletes to share in that? That’s when we pivoted.

Are athletes your only clients?

Yes; we’re built specifically for athletes. This is intentional. There are plenty of funds out there but we wanted to create a platform that pairs athletes specifically with these types of vetted, reliable investment opportunities that simultaneously impact communities.

How are projects selected?

It all starts with having a meaningful connection to the community. We identify markets where we have meaningful connections. We source opportunities to create projects that are transformative to the communities. Real impact in communities that made us.

What makes your company different?

Athletes are positioned as strategic partners, not merely a marketing layer or source of passive capital. The platform combines athlete capital, influence, networks and community connections with best-in-class real estate expertise. Teammates can invest and form strategic joint ventures with experienced operators depending on the opportunity.

Projects are selected first for strong operators, demand, economics and market fundamentals, with community impact integrated into the thesis. The model is built around long-term ownership and repeat partnerships rather than one-off transactions. Teammates is designed specifically around the professional athlete ecosystem while operating alongside institutional real estate partners.

Is this only for active athletes?

No; we welcome retired athletes as well.

What is your long-term vision?

Teammates as the go-to platform for Athlete investment.

Let's Build Something Transformative.
